This year’s lecture was delivered by Professor Danny Dorling. His theme was “The Education Shuffle: What will the next two steps forward be?” He explored the impact of comprehensive education, the ways in which that progress has been compromised and what the next steps forward need to be.

On the early-mid 20s issue; what helped me see and get out of that was getting to study a year of my degree in Sweden where I met and worked with students from across Europe and the world. That’s when I saw clearly how much I was lacking intellectually, despite being a hard working, prize winning top grade student in the UK state school system.
