The next SEA Executive and Members’ meetings will be held at the Priory Rooms, 40 Bull Street B4 6AF on Saturday 12th January. The timings will be:
- Finance and General Purposes Committee, 11am-12pm
- Executive 12pm-1:30pm
- All members meeting 2pm-4pm
At the members’ meeting we will be debating:
1. Policies for higher education introduced by Pam Tatlow
The Labour manifesto gave a welcome commitment on the abolition of fees but said little else about higher education. There is an urgent need to develop a more comprehensive approach to this area in response to the marketisation of higher education that has dominated the agenda in recent years.
2. The Future of Ofsted introduced by James Whiting
As Ofsted prepares to introduce a new inspection framework, there are increasing challenges to its approach to inspection and indeed to its very existence. Here too there is a need for Labour to develop a new collaborative approach to ensuring the quality of education.
